Italian Classes at IEI
The Istituto Educazione Italiana (IEI) offers evening classes for adults on the campus of Menlo College in Atherton. Classes are taught by native Italian speakers with years of language teaching experience. Meetings are held once a week for 8 weeks, class duration is 1-and-a-half hours.
Course fee is $190 per person per 8-week course. If you do not wish to enroll online you may send a check to:

COURSE DESCRIPTION
DISCOVERING ITALY (in English)
For the traveler who wants to get the most out of his Italian experience. Eight sessions, each dedicated to a particular topic, designed to foster an in-depth appreciation of the country and its lifestyle. Essential to the first time visitor as well as to the seasoned traveler. The course ends with a Graduation Dinner at a local Italian restaurant.

- Session 2 – The Italian emigrations
- Session 3 – Italian Art
- Session 4 – Italian foods and wines
- Session 5 – Italian language
- Session 6 – Italian lifestyle
- Session 7 – Italian travel
- Session 8 – Graduation Dinner

FIRST YEAR ITALIAN (a sequence of four courses each lasting 8 weeks) – 1 and 1/2-hour lessons (Italian 1, 2, 3, and 4)
In this sequence we lay the foundation for eventual Italian conversation. We emphasize and drill extensively on the following:
- Italian pronunciation
- Listening to spoken Italian
- Vocabulary building
- Grammar
- Translations English to Italian
You are not expected to converse in Italian during Italian 1. Limited conversation will begin with Italian 2. At this point you will be able to answer some simple questions and learn to formulate some simple sentences.
It 1 Thursdays 7:00 to 8:30pm, 8 weeks, starts March 14 ENROLL
It 3 Wednesdays 7:00 to 8:30pm, 8 weeks, starts March 13 ENROLL

ITALIAN CONVERSATION (8 weeks) – 1 and 1/2-hour lessons
Following the first-year sequence you will be ready to enroll in Conversation. This Conversation course emphasizes student-to-student verbal interaction, role-paying, student compositions and narratives. Development of Italian grammar continues along with the conversation. There is a daytime and an evening class.
Morning – Wednesdays 10:00 to 11:30 am, 8 weeks, starts March 13 ENROLL
Evening – Tuesdays 7:00 to 8:30 pm, 8 weeks, starts March 12 ENROLL
COURSE LOCATION
The Istituto Educazione Italiana is housed on the campus of Menlo College, 1000 El Camino Real, Atherton, CA 90427. Classes are held either in the Florence Moore Hall (FloMo, rooms numbered 3xx), or in Brawner Hall (rooms numbered 4xx). A map of the campus is shown below with our two buildings outlined in red. Enrolled students will be notified of the exact room number before the first class meeting.

Hi Marsha, the class will meet in FloMo Room 303. FloMo (the Florence Moore Hall), is towards the back of the campus. There’s a little open atrium with the classrooms all around, just look at the room numbers. Arrivederci

Cara signora, grazie per averci scritto. Purtroppo non siamo in grado di offrire lavoro. Il nostro Istituto e’ molto piccolo ed e’ principalmente un lavoro di volontariato. Le nostre insegnanti insegnano solamente un paio di ore alla settimana, e lo fanno come hobby e per amore della patria lontana. Ci divertiamo con gli americani, e ci paghiamo la benzina e gli affitti, ma non lo consideriamo un lavoro serio. Le auguro migliore sorte altrove. Sinceri saluti

Hi Mario, ho letto la sua risposta a Elia Zoncu; io non cerco lavoro, ma la possibilità di un “uditorato” volontario.
Vorrei venire in California per studiare inglese (lo so male) e mi piacerebbe fare qualcosa. Sono un signora di 59 anni, avvocato e con esperienza, in attività di volontariato, di insegnamento dell’italiano a stranieri. GRAZIE
